Size Really Does Matter

I've been trying to understand this for a long time and it just escapes me. Why do the little pieces of Doritos taste better than a regular sized chip? Coffee tastes better in a teacup than in a mug. Muffins taste better if you eat them by breaking off little pieces instead of biting from the whole thing. But cookies- definitely bigger is better. No question. The science of this completely escapes me.

When I was a kid we used to argue over who got the baby spoon to eat their ice cream. We thought it was because it would last longer, but maybe it was because it tasted better in smaller bites?

Oh yeah! My kids do that too lately. They use the baby spoons for ice cream because it makes it last longer. That's funny.

Erm, is this the time to admit I have a whole set of baby spoons? Definitely better for ice cream, or late night frosting-eating ;)

Ooh, for frosting I tend to use a large serving spoon.
